Healthy Blackberry Smoothie

1 or 2 cups of fresh or frozen blackberries
1 or 2 frozen bananas (frozen is best so the smoothie will be nice and cold)
1/2 package of soft silken tofu
1 or 2 teaspoons of honey (to taste)
Optional grape juice
I like mine without grape juice so it is thick like a milkshake but if you want yours runny add grape juice.

Corn Pones

Tonight it is baked acorn squash with brown sugar of course
Sauteed broccolarabi (however you spell it) with garlic and red pepper flakes
And corn pones! Mmm if you haven't had these before give em a try they are fab and easy:
1 cup corn meal
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 teastpoon of baking powder
2 tablespoons canola oil
1/2 cup milk or soy milk
I like to add fresh rosemary and chives but you can leave these out or add your own herbs
Mix corn meal, salt, and baking powder. Stir in oil and milk/soy
Grease a large skillet, heat to medium or medium high, drop batter from a tablespoon, shape into 4 pones. Brown on both sides. Good with lots of fresh butter.

I am making some tiny totem animal boxes and have a need for knitting scraps. I am interested in great colors, soft fuzzies, strange fibers, -novelty- fibers and such. Not so interested in acrylic...So if you save little balls to small to knit with, and small snippets, but haven't known what to do with them-email me! I will trade tiny non-framed original paintings for spiffy tiny stashes.

I am the featured 2D artist in September at the Kingston Art Gallery in Kingston WA.

The artist's reception is on Saturday September 9th from 6-8PM. Kingston is a short ferry ride from Edmonds (North of Seattle).

Lynny Garrett is the featured 3D artist.

Busy as a Bee

I have been neglecting my blog a little lately. Sorry everyone! I have been working on a children's book project. I can't show any of it off-it is super secret until it is printed. It has been keeping me super busy. I am almost done though. So more new art soon! :)

Gluten Free Southwest Lettuce Wraps

Southwest Lettuce wraps

Gluten free! (You can use flour or corn tortillas in place of the lettuce if you want)

Several large lettuce leaves (I like Butter Head) Wash (spin if you have a salad spinner) then set aside

Mix in a large skillet
1 Package ground turkey
1 medium onion diced
I don't use any oil-the meat (and later the lime and salsa) are enough to keep it moist

Saute on medium heat

Add dried ancho chili powder to taste
some salt

When turkey is brown add:
2 ears fresh corn cut from the cob
1/2 red, orange, or yellow pepper diced
1 Bunch of green onions
2 small to medium tomatoes
a couple of tablespoons of the salsa of your choice
a couple of teaspoons of fresh lime juice

Cook for about 5-10 minutes on medium heat

Wrap in Lettuce leaves and enjoy!

(I like to add lots of Cholula hot sauce)
