Gluten free & Hypothyroid

Well after years of expensive tests and stupidity with western docs I finally gave up and went to a Naturopath. I haven't felt this good since I was in college. If ever. I can't recommend Dr. Molly Force in Port Townsend highly enough. She has given me my life back. Turns out for years I have had hypothyroid and am super allergic to gluten. For years I asked to have my thyroid tested and thought it had been...the doctor made a mistake. I sort of knew about the gluten...I have tried in the past to go gluten free and or cut down on it. But now I have to go completely gluten free. I am also allergic to soy, dairy, corn, almonds, sesame,beef and peas. Combine that with my anti-inflammatory diet that rules out a lot of food. I usually cook from scratch thank goodness so that makes things easier.

I'm sorry to hear about your health problems but happy that you finally found out what is wrong. I've got lots of allergies & aliments & heart problems etc so I can understand how frustrating it can be. I'm sending lots of love & postiive thoughts & healing energy your way.

Hi, I also am allergic to wheat and gluten. I had to insist that I be tested before it was confirmed. I used to always wonder why I felt bad after every meal no matter how bland. You know pasta and toast, etc. The enemy. I am also with hypothyroidism. The key to getting this under control is to take the medication synthyroid at least one hour before you eat. I recently purchased a bread machine, called "breadman pro" which has a cycle just for gluten free bread.

Hypothyroid? Oh boy. My sympathies indeed. B's continuing battles with the medical authorities over here in the UK over her thyroid have been pretty hair raising...

So tell me, what CAN you eat? I'm IBS-C myself and dairy intolerant.. (But I love it and eat it anyway!(fart,fart!). I can't have soymilk or almond milk for a dairy substitute because of the gas. Stress really hurts my abdominal "Hot spot", but probiotics, and magnesium supplements mean I cur down on my omeprasole for my acid reflux.
