We took a day trip over to the Olympic Peninsula yesterday and explored around the Duckabush river area. Duckabush means 'place of crooked-jawed salmon'. On the way there near Brinnon we were surprised to see a herd of elk!
We found our first chanterelles of the season
A very dark black slug...
And an unknown mushroom of some sort
We found a bear bone! Maybe...we think...?
And ended the day with a rainbow

cool! i so hoped that adrienne would get to see some elk when she was here, but no such luck. probably my only trip to banff where we didn't see wildlife!
Awesome! Sounds like you had a great time.
Those elk are like the best outdoor drive-in movie theater. Amazing!
I was under the impression that the elk kept more westward...
I stood about 35 ft from the Sequim heard (about 100 elk), scary.
Ooh! Is the cabin haunted? I hope.
I guess that this Roosevelk elk herd hangs out in Brinnon. I think that cabin is haunted for sure!
