Artemis the house is much to quiet without you. May you have moved on to a better place with bottomless food bowls, many critters to chase, and as many bones as you could ever want. You will be greatly missed my friend.
While exploring the Olympic National Forest we found the Interrorem Cabin. You can rent this nifty cabin! It was built in 1907 and was the first ranger station in the Olympic National Forest.
We took a day trip over to the Olympic Peninsula yesterday and explored around the Duckabush river area. Duckabush means 'place of crooked-jawed salmon'. On the way there near Brinnon we were surprised to see a herd of elk!

This piece is an atc/aceo and is 2.5x3.5 inches. It is mixed media on illustration board. It is called Something To Believe In.
This is Io my old cat. She enjoys sun bathing, long walks around the house at night, helping me paint, sleeping in sweaters...and biting...and peeing all over the living room.
This is what my view looked like the other night. I wish I could get a picture of this but they move to fast...the batties are out in abundance lately. They love to fly down our ravine towards the sea and back again.
This is a drawing I just did a couple of days ago. It is actually finished now but my scanner isn't hooked up. Hopefully I will have a finished pic to show soon.
Well Kalli is on the mend and I...am completely stir crazy! I have been stuck inside for days on end for the most part. The dang splints keep slipping off so Kalli has to be "watched". Ugh! But she does seem to be healing. You can tell how much time I have been spending with the dogs by the number of photos of them I am going to subject you all too!
I have been making some fun dishes while she is healing. I made this spicy lemongrass tofu bowl from one of my favorite videocasts made by The Culinary Institute of America. This is a professional videocast and wow do they make great stuff! Also in the video casts are some culinary tours of other countries.
Even while healing Kalli has to take care of Binah
A couple of weeks ago I dried more herbs. Sage, Lemon Verbena and Lemon Balm. I also opened up the herbs I had hung to dry a month or so ago and put the dried herbs into tiny jam jars. Everything worked great accept for the tarragon...which smelled icky and was black. So I will have to search the net to find a better way to dry that. (If anyone out there knows let me know!)
I am lucky to live in one of the most beautiful places in the world. It is rural but Seattle is not too far away. While being rural it is not too "small townish". In other words everyone isn't in everyone elses business and that sort of thing. I am just finishing the novel Main Street by Sinclair Lewis. Hansville has no main street. :)
