I finally got some pics of my hermit crabs. One is getting really big!

Fall Crop

A few weeks ago I planted my fall crop. I decided to see if I can grow year round up on my balcony outside my studio. These pics are a few weeks old now I have little seedlings growing in these pots. Now I just have to find the time to plant the veg I want to "winter over".

Salad and cheese bread

While my sister was visiting...and my oven was working (yes my oven isn't working!!!!) I made this fun salad and some cheese and onion bread. The salad has mainly things from my garden-zucchini, lettuce, spinach, blueberries, carrots, and cucumber. I also added some nuts (not from my garden).

Why can't my Sistah play with me?!

My healthy blue heeler wants to know why the heck her little sistah can't play with her and what is the big deal with a broken leg anyways?! The lil one saw a surgeon today and it looks like as long as we can keep her quiet for several weeks she won't need surgery...fingers crossed that the bone heals properly. Have you ever tried to keep a blue heeler quiet and calm? Even on sedatives they have more energy than other dogs. Wow do I have my work cut out..

Sister visit!

My sister Les was here for several days and we had the best visit! I oil painted and she made lots of cool new jewelry. Towards the end though she could not control her need to organize and clean...so she took over my kitchen. What? Dog kibbles are not allowed in the same area as clean dishes? Wha?

My Lil'One

Lil Kalli was playing ball with my other blue heeler and Nancy. We aren't sure exactly how she did it but she broke a bone in her arm! She likes to crash into things like a truck so in a way it is not a surprise...but wow has it been stressful. She has a temporary splint and we see a surgeon on Monday.





Kalli had just recovered from being spayed (which could be why she was playing so hard). Here she is groggy on her pain meds from the spaying.

This piece is not titled yet. These are work in progress pics. It is an oil and is a little larger than I have been working lately. I think it is about 3x5 inches or so. It is on 300 pound Fabriano Artistico Hot press paper. I prep the paper before I oil though so that the oil will not eat through the paper.

Rules of the compost pile

1. Be absolutely sure that you know the exact location of said pile before your siggie goes out of town.

2. Avoid the stinging nettles at all costs. Toss bucket directly into pile from a distance of several feet so you can avoid the nettles.

3. Do not touch the nettles!!! (ouch)

4. Do not under any circumstance use a salad spinner as a replacement for your compost bucket which you threw on the compost pile itself.

5. Don't forget to ask the siggie to find the inner half of the salad spinner which dissapeared somewhere in the general pile area.

Herby pasta ala Crash Test Kitchen

I made some Herby pasta using a recipe from the video cast Crash Test Kitchen. I added shitake mushrooms and used lemon verbena and basil as my herbies.

My sister stole your fiber!

Well knitters...some of you who were super nice traded me some neat fibers for little paintings and prints a while back. My sister Les came to visit and nabbed some of my stash! You can see her creations here. Adorn
To get even I stole some of her neat buttons and made some stuff of my own.
