Scribblecast!
I am almost finished with my first episode of an arty videocast called Scribblecast. Soon I will have the website and blog up and running and I will let you know here when it is ready for you to download. Please check back for details.
The videocast will cover similar topics as my blog does...cooking, hiking, walking, the outdoors, critters, and of course arty things. I will have lots of segments where I am creating art so you can see how I do it!

Dog school!
Kalli's leg is all better. Now the only problem is that she has become agressive towards other dogs and certain people. Probably a bit of her genetics and the unfortunate timing of her broken leg. So...it is off to school for Kalli!

mmm~Fava Beans
Fava beans are super easy to cook. You can use them just like limas. They are not as dry as limas though. I planted some this fall hopefully they will grow!
Open up the big pods and remove the beans
Boil the beans in a pot of water for about 1 minute (this is just to remove the outer shell the bean has)
Remove outer shell
Now you can use the beans just like they are cold in salads etc. or you can cook them a bit longer and put them in pasta or any dish you might add beans to.

Easy Apple Crispie Thing
Binnie Blue says this recipe couldn't be easier!
Core and chop 3-4 apples (use more apples if your making a large batch)
Butter or spray a small pirex
Preheat oven to 350
Add apples to the pyrex
Melt anywhere between 1/4 and a half a stick of butter depending on the amount you want to make
Mix the melted butter with about a cup and a half (or more if your pan is big) of good quality granola. I like to use granola that does not have a lot of sweetner added-this one has some almonds in it. Add a teaspoon or more to taste of brown sugar
Add some cinnamon to your apples
Put the granola mixture on top of the apples and bake for 15-20 minutes until browned

Bamboo Floor and Garden update!
No pics today because photochuckit as I fondly like to call it will not let me upload photos. Well our living room floor is finally installed! We have had it for about a week now. We wanted something "sustainable" but "hard". So I did some web research and we decided to try bamboo from a place that rhymes with shmoregonbamboo. The product sucks. It is not the color it was supposed to be, it arrived warped, and it is about as hard as balsa wood. Ok I exaggerate...but only slightly. It would be lovely for someone who has no animals whatsoever, who doesn't mind their floor coming unglued and popping up after a week, and who walks around in socks or bunny slippers. But it is an improvement over our grungy carpet. Soon we will have some nifty base moulding in there and we can put the furnature back in.
I am amazed at how well my garden did this season. I was able to grow just about every herb I could want and grow enough to dry it for later use. I have planted all kinds of salads and greens for a fall/winter crop and they have already started to produce. Two of my favorites are watercress and rocquette (an arugala). I just planted favas, amaranth, red onion, storage onions, and tons of garlic. I have never tried to grow any of these things so wish me luck!

Would you like to watch a video cast?
Hey would you like to see a video cast made by me? I would like to try my hand at this. The video cast would cover similar things that my blog does. You would get a chance to see me paint, cook and do outdoor things. I am saving up to try to buy a video camera. With all my current vet bills (after my beagle and my blue who broke her leg) it is going to be a while before this painter can afford a camera! If you want to see this happen feel free to make a donation small or not so small. I have provided this nifty button and a button on the right side of my blog too for you to donate via paypal. Thank you!
